Tripit update now shows trips you've already taken

Tripit for Android

I've long raved about the merits of Tripit for those of us who travel frequently. It's indispensable for keeping track of flights, hotels, car rentals -- everything, basically. (And it's available in free or paid form, which is a plus.) But until now it's only really kept track of upcoming trips. And that's certainly the most important thing to keep track of. But there are plenty of times when I'd like to look back on past trips and know where I stayed and how I got there.

Tripit's taken care of that in its latest update. You can now see past trips and all of the attached itineraries. So if you stayed in a great hotel but can't remember the name, you don't have have sort through e-mails. Or maybe you want to give kudos for a particularly good flight. (Or maybe you just can't remember what city your were in. It happens.)

Me? I'm totally going to use it for bragging rights. But hopefully your use will be a little more humble.

'American Idol' Top Six Battle For The Throne On Queen Night

Hollie Cavanagh rises up with 'The Climb' and Joshua Ledet racks up two more standing ovations.
By Adam Graham

If "American Idol" was decided by whoever received the most standing ovations from the judges, Joshua Ledet would have this year's competition in the bag.

Ledet racked up two more standing O's from the judges on Wednesday's (April 25) "Idol," which found the contestants singing two songs apiece: one from Queen, and another of their own choosing.

That brought Ledet's unofficial standing ovation season total to 12 — that figure according to Skylar Laine, who ribbed him backstage for receiving a dozen standing O's over the course of the season.

Ledet first got a rise out of the judges with his version of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," which caused Jennifer Lopez to ask, "Is it bad for me to say the Joshua part of the show is my favorite part of the show?" He followed it with a version of India.Arie's "Ready for Love" — which was sung by Michael Lynche back in "Idol" season nine — which was called "another unbelievable performance" by Randy Jackson. Added an enthusiastic Steven Tyler, "I hope the label finds you a bunch of good songs, man, and you're off to the moon. I smell the finish line with you."

Hollie Cavanagh received the evening's other standing ovation from the judges with her second song, "The Climb," the Miley Cyrus song that seemingly summed up her journey on the show so far. It came after she received so-so marks for her first song, Queen's "Save Me," which played into theme of "The Climb" even further.

"That's the Hollie Cavanagh that we love, that's the one! Hollie is back! Yo!" said Jackson. Added Lopez, "You said it backstage, 'I gotta step it up,' and you did! It was perfect."

Steven Tyler's favorite of the night was Skylar Laine, who opened with "The Show Must Go On" and followed it with Jason Aldean's "Tattoo's on This Town." On the Queen song, Tyler praised her energy and her passion as over-the-top, saying, "the way you hit your notes, for an 18-year-old? Oh my God. That was fabulous." Lopez said she got "goosies" from Laine, while Jackson dubbed himself a "ginormous" fan of the Mississippi singer.

Jessica Sanchez kicked off the show with "Bohemian Rhapsody," which was shot in black and white while a chorus of Sanchez heads backed her on the oval "Idol" video screen at the back of the stage. For her second song, Sanchez sent a shout-out to her dad, singing a touching version of Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father."

Lopez told Sanchez she expected more energy from her during "Rhapsody," but said her "Dance With My Father" was "the best I've ever heard that song sang." Meanwhile, Jackson summed up her two performances by saying, "every time you get up and sing, you know what's wrong with it? Absolutely nothing!"

Phillip Phillips, who has battled Dave Matthews comparisons from fans all season, seemingly got away from the Matthews talk with his first song, a fun, spirited take on "Fat Bottomed Girls." "People say that you remind them of Dave Matthews, that didn't remind me of Dave Matthews at all. That was something totally different," Lopez said, invoking Matthews name out loud for the first time this season. "That's the mark of a great singer for me."

And how did Phillip Squared follow it up? With a performance of Dave Matthews' "The Stone," on which he sounded like a direct clone of Matthews. Lopez was not pleased, dismissing the song "obscure" and "artsy," and worrying it would get him voted off the show. Jackson, for his part, admired Phillips' sticking to his guns. "Die, sink or swim, Phil Phillips will always be Phil Phillips," he said. "I love that."

Elise Testone took on Queen's "I Want It All" early and followed it with Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love." The first song got high marks, though the latter "wasn't the right song for this time in the competition," Jackson told her, criticizing her for "boxing" with the song, and saying Hendrix sang "about 1/25 of what you sang" in his original. J. Lo had the opposite reaction. Although she said she wasn't familiar with the original, "you slayed that song so hard, it didn't even matter," she said.

Wednesday's show opened with the Top Six performing a medley of Queen songs, backed by Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor.

Thursday's show will feature performances by Katy Perry and 10th season "Idol" contestant Stefano Langone, and one of the six remaining contestants will be sent home.

AT&T reports Q1 earnings: $31.8 billion in revenue, 5.5 million smartphones sold

AT&T reports Q1 earnings: $31.8 billion in revenue, sells 5.5 million smartphones

Sure, there was no new iPhone to boost its smartphone sales this quarter, but the carrier still managed to push 5.5 million of the devices out the door, while activating 4.3 million Apple-branded handsets. The company beat analyst predictions by raking in $31.8 billion in revenue and pocketing $3.6 billion of that as income, up from $3.4 billion over the same time period last year. Things are looking good for the company as both U-Verse and its wireless business grew revenues dramatically -- by 38.2 percent and 19.9 percent, respectively. Growth on the cellular side is in large part thanks to the 726,000 net subscriber adds. Of particular interest is the growth in so-called "branded-computing" subscriptions, which includes tethering plans and tablets. There, AT&T has seen a growth of 70 percent over last year, reaching 5.8 million customers (including 460,000 added last quarter). For more financial fun check out the PR after the break.

WordPress.com Parent Company Automattic On Track To Make $45M In Revenue This Year

Screen Shot 2012-04-25 at 8.17.19 AMAutomattic, the software company best known for running the for-profit fork of the WordPress blog publishing system, is perhaps the best proof out there that blogging can be a real business. Automattic is profitable and is on track to make $45 million in revenue this year, according to an interview published today by AllThingsD. WordPress -- both through its open source software and the WordPress.com platform -- now powers 70 million sites. That represents serious growth, even from a near-term perspective. Some 16 months ago in December 2010, Mullenweg told our own Alexia Tsotsis that Automattic's revenue was around $10 million. At that time, WordPress was powering 30 million publishers.

Antonio Silva to face Cain Velasquez at UFC 146

When Frank Mir was given a title shot at UFC 146 in place of Alistair Overeem, several dominoes started to fall in the UFC heavyweight division. Mir was supposed to face Cain Velasquez in Las Vegas on May 26. Since he's fighting Junior dos Santos, Velasquez will face Antonio "Big Foot" Silva, who will be making his UFC debut after a career in Strikeforce and Elite XC. Roy Nelson, who was supposed to fight Silva, is now opponent-less, but is expected to remain on the card.

Got that?

As it stands now, UFC 146 still has an all-heavyweight main card, but the UFC has to scramble to find an opponent for Nelson for a bout that is just 34 days away. Here are all the main card bouts:

Junior Dos Santos vs. Frank Mir
Antonio Silva vs. Cain Velasquez
Roy Nelson vs. TBA
Shane Del Rosario vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve

Alistair Overeem blames anti-inflammatory medication containing testosterone for elevated T/E ratio, failed test

Hulking heavyweight Alistair Overeem, who lost a shot at the UFC heavyweight title when he failed a March 27 random drug test administered to him by the Nevada Athletic Commission, said in a statement Monday released by his management team that the reason for his failure was medication he was given to treat a rib injury.

Overeem, who had a 14:1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio that was more than twice the legal limit of 6:1 in Nevada, was on Friday pulled from the title fight against champion Junior dos Santos that was to be the main event of UFC 146 on May 26 in Las Vegas by UFC president Dana White and replaced by Frank Mir.

[Related: Frank Mir will now face Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight belt at UFC 146]

The failure was first announced by the Nevada commission on April 4, noting that Overeem's T/E ratio exceeded 10:1. The next day, it announced that the exact number was 14:1.

Overeem had a hearing scheduled in front of the Nevada commission on Tuesday, but White said Saturday after UFC 145, "I'm not too optimistic" that Overeem would get licensed and that the UFC had marketing deadlines it had to meet. He said the UFC couldn't deal with the uncertainty and ultimately pitted Mir against dos Santos.

[Related: Dana White infuriated by Alistair Overeem's positive test]

In his statement, Overeem said in March he was given an anti-inflammatory medication, which he did not identify, that was mixed with testosterone to treat a rib injury.

His elevated T/E ratio was discovered following a surprise test given by the Nevada commission on March 27 to all six of the heavyweights who were participating in a news conference that day. The others -- dos Santos, Mir, Cain Velasquez, Antonio "Big Foot" Silva and Roy Nelson -- all passed the test.

Prior to the UFC 146 press conference in March, I aggravated an old rib injury on my left side. My doctor prescribed, and I accepted, an anti-inflammatory medication that was mixed with testosterone. I was completely unaware that testosterone was one of the ingredients in the medication. Although I was unaware, I do realize it is my job to know what I am putting into my body.

Overeem has fought under a cloud of suspicion for years, though he had never failed a test previously. He used to fight as a light heavyweight at 205 pounds, but moved to heavyweight and bulked his body up tremendously.

In his statement, Overeem vehemently denied using PEDs and supported the commission. His entire statement:

To my friends and fans,

I am deeply saddened to announce that on Friday, April 20, I respectfully withdrew from the May 26 event so that I can request a continuance until my situation with the Nevada State Athletic Commission is resolved.

I cannot express how sorry I am to the Commission, Junior Dos Santos, the fans, the owners and employees of the UFC, my friends and family and anyone else who this has affected.

I absolutely do not believe in, nor do I use performance-enhancing drugs. I am a clean fighter and I will do whatever it takes to prove this to everyone.

I respect the Nevada Commissioners and Executive Director Keith Kizer and what they are doing to keep?the sport of mixed martial arts regulated and safe for athletes. I look forward to working with them in the days and weeks ahead.

Friends and fans, I ask for your patience as I work through this matter. Please support me. I promise to return to the Octagon soon.

There is no date set for Overeem's formal hearing. He is facing no punishment because he did not have a license at the time of the test, but he would have to explain the elevated ratios to the athletic commission when he applies for a license after he's ready to fight again. He can choose not to apply for a license in Nevada again, but he almost certainly wouldn't be able to fight in the state unless and until he met the commission face to face and explained himself, even if he does so elsewhere first.

Finally A Redesign!? Ugly Craigslist Hiring UI Designer To Become ?Faster, Friendlier And Easier?

Craigslist Under ConstructionRecognizable, fast-loading, but outdated as hell website seeks Senior UI / Usability / Front End Engineer. Love it or hate it, Craigslist's design could provide a better experience, and apparently Craig thinks so too, as this weekend the site posted a job opening for someone to make it "faster, friendlier, and easier". It's hoping for a brave designer who can "develop new products and features that will have CL users swooning", "optimize internal team tools", and who has mobile app design and platform support skills. There's plenty of tweaks we'd appreciate like more consistent navigation controls and better use of whitespace. But don't expect Craigslist to ditch its?famously minimal facade that's helped it climb to 50 million classified postings and 30 billion page views a month.
