Learn how to make various crepe batters to create an array of savory or dessert crepes. Cheesemaker and managing partner John Loomis leads the whey and gives the inside scoop on how they make artisan cheeses and old-fashioned gelato (that?s Italian ice cream). $5. Milan Senior Nutrition Program. 11:45 a.m. Milan Senior & Community Activity Center, 45 Neckel Court, Milan. In partnership with the Washtenaw County Senior Nutrition Program, they offer a nutritionally balanced meal three afternoons a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There is a suggested donation of $2.50 for anyone who is 60 years or older and a fee of $5 for anyone under the age of 60. They do ask for 48 hour advanced reservations. Tuesday

Hands-on: Umbrian Style Cuisine with Francesca Giarraffa. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Hollander's, 410 N. Fourth Ave., first floor of the Kerrytown Shops, Ann Arbor. In this hands-on class Chef Francesca will show you how to prepare Umbrian style pasta dressed in an Italian sausage ragu with fresh wild mushrooms. A seasonal salad will accompany the meal. Sahajahani Murg Masala with Jyothi Abraham. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Whole Foods, 3135 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. This mild chicken curry from the north is named after the fifth Moghul emperor of India. Like all Moghul dishes it is an interesting blend of complex spices you can savor in your mouth long after the meal. Jyothi pairs it with a cinnamon rice flavored with onions and whole spices. Finish this meal with a refreshing mango lassi drink, a popular throughout Southeast Asia. This class is held in the Cooking and Lifestyles Classroom. $39. Bakin' with Bacon. 5:30-9:30 p.m. Zingerman's Bakehouse, 3711 Plaza Drive, Ann Arbor. You'll be using the power of bacon to flavor three amazing baked goods, all in honor of the release of the Zingerman's Guide to Better Bacon book (on sale now at all Zingerman's locations). You'll make a similar version of their wildly popular peppered bacon farm bread, bacon cheddar scones found in the book and bacon pecan sandy cookies. Strawberry Week Presents: Beer Night. 5 p.m. to close. Wolverine State Brewing Co., 2019 W. Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor. Strawberry week continues with a stunning combination of two of America?s favorite pastimes: strawberries and beer. Wolverine is brewing a special strawberry lager for this event. Wolverine State brewers Oliver and Karl will discuss their techniques for brewing with fruit, give us a tour of the where the magic happens, and, of course, have plenty on tap for all to enjoy. Wednesday Evening Farmers Market. 4:30-8:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St., Ann Arbor. Join the Ann Arbor Farmers Market on May 2 for the kickoff of the second season of the Wednesday Evening Farmers Market. You'll find local produce and food from some of your favorite farmers and vendors from the Saturday markets, plus many innovative new vendors. There will be live music, food carts, and throughout the season a non-profit sponsored beer and wine garden, as well as educational food demos and more. Introduction to Home-Brewed Kombucha with Brittany Massey. 7-8:30 p.m. Crazy Wisdom Bookstore and Tearoom, 114 S. Main St., Ann Arbor.
