Get Patriotic With a DIY Union Jack Manicure

With the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics being held in London this year, it's not surprising plenty of us Brits are coming over all patriotic. If you want to wear your red, white and blue pride on your nails, you're in luck! Max Factor celebrity nail artist, Zarra Celik has created Cool Britannia looks and her favourite, just like mine, is the Union Jack flag. You can nail this look at home by following Zara's tips below. Steady hands at the ready:

• 1. Using a thin nail brush, paint a red stripe down the middle of the nail using a shade like Max Colour Effect Mini Ruby Tuesday (?3.99). Wait for it to dry, then paint two diagonal stripes in opposite directions to form an X.
• 2. Paint triangles in a bold blue shade like Max Colour Effect Mini Odyssey Blue (?3.99) between the red stripes.
• 3. Outline the edges of the stripes and in between the triangles with a white nail striper.
• 4. Finish with a top coat like Max Factor's Nailfinity (?5.99) over the whole nail.
