The "Apartheid State" writer (July 16 letters) needs to read her own letter and correct the personal biases she includes. The Palestinians, since the terrorist Yasser Arafat, have been given many opportunities for their own land but continue to say "no" to peace with Israel.
Since Gaza was given to the Palestinians, they continue to be "governed" by and support the terrorist organization Hamas, they spend the money given them by the West for anti-semitic propaganda, anti-Israel education for their children and for rockets to use against Israel, not for productive purposes like true education or infrastructure to aid in self-sufficiency.
The writer also ignores the fact that the separation wall built by Israel has dramatically reduced the number of terrorist attacks conducted by the Palestinians against Israel. If the writer visited the West Bank, why didn't she comment on the many luxury cars, palatial homes and extravagant night clubs in Ramallah and other West Bank cities?
Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that the Palestinian people seen in the media are well-dressed, wear Nike sneakers and appear to be well-fed? I don't see people carrying buckets of water and living in tents. Nor do I see the Palestinians taking responsibility for their own actions ... it's easier to blame someone else like Israel, a productive country that has built itself from the desert sands via hard work and education.
Until the Palestinian people stop training and educating their children to hate and instead focus their energy and resources on becoming a productive, self-sufficient people versus their singular goal of Israel's destruction, they will never accept peace with Israel.
