Make Sunday family day and help the West Side Market celebrate 100 -- or treat the kids to a 'Frankenweenie' or sweet treat:
Festival
Help a local icon celebrate turning 100 at the daylong West Side Market Fest and Parade, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on West 25th Street near the market. Festivities include a parade at noon, vendors, harvest activities and more.
Movies
Boys love dogs. Boys love monsters. And if you could -- if you had to -- somehow combine the two you'd get "Frankenweenie, Tim Burton's gloriously goofy, ghoulish salute to old-style horror movies and a misspent, misfit youth, as his hero brings a beloved pet back to life -- with mixed results. Imaginatively done in stop-motion, it's a new seasonal classic, and Burton's best in years. Recommended. The film contains a few scares, and some gruesome images. PG; 87 min. Area theaters. Grade:A -- Stephen Whitty

Dine
Sweet Melissa's: 19337 Detroit Road, Rocky River, 440-333-6357,
Walking into a restaurant with an Allman Brothers tune rolling through your head sets up a nice feeling, and Sweet Melissa keeps it rolling. The rooms cheerful, sunny tone and welcoming no-pretenses menu leaves me feeling comfortable whether Im ordering a sandwich (the Laina's Chicken Salad, at lunch, is excellent), one of the pastas and a salad (try the suave Chicken Carbonara and the satisfying spinach salad with warm maple vinaigrette, at dinner) or one of the dressier specialties. We tore into a plump fillet of grilled salmon dressed with lemon butter sauce and one of the most delicious fish entrees in town: pistachio-crusted grouper, cut into two steaks, coated in chopped nuts, then sauteed to succulence. $-$$$, all major credit cards accepted. -- Joe Crea
