8 Relationship Lessons From Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum ...

Thursday, 11/15/2012 2:35 PM

Lucky, lucky Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Not only is she married to People?s Sexiest Man Alive, but their marriage seems so romantic and wonderful that I am squee-ing with happiness.

We already know Channing can be sweet, funny, and of course, sexy as all get out in his movie roles, but he's clearly all those things in real life too.

With the announcement of his crowning as Sexiest Man Alive, let's take a look into his relationship with his wife Jenna. Because even though it's like, How hard can it be happy when you're married to this hotness, they seriously set a good example for a healthy and loving relationship.

  1. No matter how good looking you are, you've got to keep it real. Mr. Sexiest told his wife about his new title in a most unsexy way: while they were kneeling in front of a bathtub, cleaning skunk spray off their dogs. Jenna said, ?I?m not quite sure why the skunk smell made him think about it.? It's nice to know that despite the amount of sexiness these two exude, they still have to do normal and sometimes gross chores as a couple, and they still love each other in good smells and in bad.
  2. Watch romantic movies together for inspiration. The Tatum family picks, according to Channing? ?We love The Notebook. She loves Titanic. What do I love? Love Story.? Can I come over and watch with you guys sometime?
  3. Spontaneity is key. On switching up their date night routine, Jenna says "Just have fun. I think people should always keep an element of play in their relationships and spontaneity. It keeps things fun and fresh." So true, although if I were married to Channing Tatum it would take me a long time to get bored of date nights where the sole activity was stroking his abs.
  4. Absence makes the heart grow fonder...but don't stay away too long. Channing and Jenna, with their busy celeb schedules, follow a two-week rule when it comes to the amount of time they are willing to be apart. Most of us average folks don't have to worry about that too much, but a little time apart might even be good for your appreciation of your partner. Of their time apart, Channing says: "It's painful not to see each other. I really miss my other half." Conclusion? A little time away is good, but stay connected in the long run.
  5. Love doesn't have to be so complicated. When asked what surprised her about marriage, Jenna said she was surprised that she didn't feel that different: "It was kind of just a natural progression. It didn?t really change much and it still feels nice and romantic. I think I was waiting for some grand thing to change but, if anything, you just get stronger and more connected." And Channing says it wasn't hard to realize Jenna was The One: "You know when you know. You look at the person and you can't imagine life without them." I'm sure they have issues like any other couple, but I love that their relationship isn't a struggle.
  6. Be proud of your significant other. Although it can't be easy to know millions of women are screaming over your naked man, Jenna says of Magic Mike: "I'm happy for people to see it. He's so good in it. I'm just so proud." On behalf of all of us, thank you for being willing to share the hotness, girl.
  7. Express yourself in writing. Channing previously told People he doesn?t think it?s hard to be thoughtful, and to prove it, he likes to leave little love notes for his wife. ?I like drawing little faces and writing little stories and hiding them in places.? Awww. I repeat, AWWWWWW.
  8. The little things are good, but sometimes you need to go big or go home. For example, take Channing?s 32nd birthday, when his wife arranged a flash mob to dance to ?(I?ve Had?) The Time of My Life. Was Channing embarrassed by the grand gesture? No way. He said: ?Best. Birthday. Gift. EVER.? I love a man who appreciates a little Dirty Dancing.

How cute are these two? Do you think they have a good relationship? And were you pleased with this Sexiest Man Alive pick?
